You can get to most schools' home pages by pointing your
browser to the address or URL
(Uniform Resource Locator) for that school. For example:
Wichita State
University: http://www.wichita.edu
If that does not work, or you are not sure of the name or initials of a particular college, the Wichita State University Library has three books (located on Index Table 14 in the Reference Area on the first floor) that provide URL's for schools that have home pages:
Perhaps the simplest way to access a school's home page is to use one of the many links
provided below. Many of the links listed under Colleges and Universities--U. S. and
Worldwide allow you to search by school name, or by certain
criteria that you specify.

you to the geographic region or state you are interested in. This listing includes the
address, phone number, size of enrollment and tuition costs for all schools in each state,
and, if a school's home page is available on the Internet, a link is provided.

schools by name or by region. Or,
click on College Search to pull up a search form that allows you to enter preferences such
as Region, Estimated Annual Cost, Freshman Class Size, Surrounding Community Size,
Public or Private School, or search on a keyword that you specify. You may also download
a Windows or Macintosh version of the Common Application Form.

Provides a "College Search" section which allows you to search for schools in the following
categories: 1) Four Year US Colleges, 2) Four Year Schools by State Map, 3) Community,
Technical and Junior Colleges, 4) Schools in Canada, 5) Schools in New Zealand, 6) Law
Schools, 7) MBA Programs, 8) Medical Schools, and 9) Schools of Osteopathic Medicine.
When you click on Four Year US Colleges, you can search for schools by state or region,
adding such criteria as enrollment size and tuition costs preferred, availability of
intercollegiate sports, majors offered, etc. An overview of each school is provided, with
links to more detailed information on the school's home page. In some cases, you can
also request more information from a school simply by clicking on a link to the school's
Admissions Office. Many of the schools listed will let you apply while you are online using
the database's ApplyWeb software.
