Basics of Copy Cataloging Videorecordings
Videorecordings include videocassettes (VHS) and
videodiscs (DVD).
Search and edit all records in OCLC, then download
them to the local catalog.
Note: Much of the information in the record is
to be taken from frames of the video recording. In general,
it is not necessary for you to actually view the video
in order to copy catalog an item. As long as the information
on the item matches what appears on the container and/or
label reasonably well, you may feel comfortable trusting
the original cataloger. However, if there is any
question in your mind about the accuracy of transcriptions,
you should view the video rather than taking information
from the container or label.
