1) After the Music/Media Cataloger has reviewed and
approved the item, print labels in OCLC. Be sure to
include the word “RESERVE” at the head of the call number.
2) Export and update the OCLC record.
3) In the local catalog, call up the record used for
ordering. The most efficient method for this is usually
the Bib ID number.
4) Import the OCLC record and overlay the old record.
5) Verify authority-controlled headings. Download authority
records and/or modify the bib record as necessary.
6) Copy and paste the call number into the holdings
record.
a) Location code should be “Reserve.”
b) Indicator one in the 852 field should be “0.”
7) Create an item record.
a) Enter the accession number in the “barcode” field. Place
one accession number on the box or cover insert of the
item. The accession number goes on the left side of
the front cover, centered between the top and bottom
of the container.
b) Verify that the permanent location is “Reserve” and
the item type is “Video.”
8) Call up the record in the OPAC to verify that everything
(especially holdings information) looks right.
9) Pass to the Music/Media Cataloger for final review.
Following this review, materials will go to the student
for processing.
