USING
EndNote Import Filters
General information about import filters can be found using EndNote's
help feature. Before using the import feature, it is always a good
idea to see if there are any special instruction for your database.
Import instructions can be found by clicking on the " import filters"
option under "edit", select the "open t filter manager"
option, find your database, then double-click .
Listed below are instructions that may be
used with FirstSearch databases. The steps will be similar for
other databases:
Within the FirstSearch database:
- Run your search
- Mark the citations that you want to export into
EndNote
- Click on the Export button
- Next to Export:, click on “Marked
records from this search”
- Next to Export to:, click
on “Text file” (NOTE: Don’t click on EndNote—it isn’t
working properly right now)
- Click on the Export button
- At the next screen – “Do you want to open or
save this file?” – click on Save
- Choose the folder to which you want to save
- Name the document – make sure that you add the
.txt extension to the file name
- You can change the file type to All Files
if you have difficulty saving
- Click on Save
- When you receive the screen that says “Download
Complete,” click on Close
Within EndNote:
- Open EndNote

place the citations
- Click on File/Import

the drop-down arrow

citations from this database before, click on Other filters,
and then select the database that you were using in your search above –
for example, ERIC (OCLC)
- Leave the Duplicates and the
Text Translations boxes as they are
- Click on the Import button
- The citations you just added will display in
your library window
- To return to the list of all of the citations in
