LAS I 170 Introduction to Library Research |
Research getting on your nerves? Have a term paper to do this semester?
This 8-week 1-credit class will take
you through each step in the process of writing a term paper:
choosing a topic, locating information in a variety of sources,
organizing the information, and creating the bibliography.

Students will be able to: |
| write a defendable thesis statement |
| identify, evaluate, and select academically appropriate print and electronic resources |
| develop a research topic and construct an effective search strategy |
| synthesize information from different sources to create a rough draft |
| correctly identify parts of a citation |
| create a bibliography in a recognized style |
| Sparticipate in the research process up to the point of writing a finished paper |
If you have a paper due in another class, it is recommended you use that topic
as you research and locate information during this class.
Two sections are offered spring 2011. One is held online only in addition to one in Room 217 Ablah Library.
