LAS I 170

Introduction to Library Research

Research getting on your nerves? Have a term paper to do this semester?

This 8-week 1-credit class will take you through each step in the process of writing a term paper:
choosing a topic, locating information in a variety of sources,
organizing the information, and creating the bibliography.

Students will be able to:

write a defendable thesis statement
identify, evaluate, and select academically appropriate print and electronic resources
develop a research topic and construct an effective search strategy
synthesize information from different sources to create a rough draft
correctly identify parts of a citation
create a bibliography in a recognized style
Sparticipate in the research process up to the point of writing a finished paper

If you have a paper due in another class, it is recommended you use that topic
as you research and locate information during this class.

Classes will be held in Room 217 Ablah Library.

See syllabus for current CRN number and other information.
