Assistant/Associate Professor and Government Information Librarian

The Wichita State University Libraries (http://library.wichita.edu/) invites applications for the position of Government Information Librarian, a twelve-month, tenure-eligible position at the assistant/associate professor level. The successful candidate will participate in a full range of library services, including reference, instruction, collection development, and outreach. The Government Information Librarian will assume a leadership role for the U.S. Federal Depository library, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Depository, and State of Kansas documents; serve as a resource specialist for traditional and electronic federal, state and municipal publications; provide specialized and general reference service; supervise support staff; and provide consultation and training for the greater community in order to meet the mission of our urban-serving university. Required qualifications:

• ALA-accredited master’s degree;
• Coursework or experience with government documents and/or patents and trademarks;
• Demonstrated knowledge of trends in public services and government information in academic libraries;
• Demonstrated potential for scholarly contributions;
• Ability to contribute in the areas of service and outreach within the university and the community;
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations;
• Interest in and ability to use web technologies (including Web 2.0);
• Demonstrated potential for meeting tenure and promotion requirements;
• Eligible to work in the United States on a multi-year basis.

Preferred qualifications:

• Additional master’s or other advanced degree;
• Experience in an academic library;
• Experience providing library instruction;
• Professional experience with government documents and/or patents and trademarks.
• Supervision and/or management experience.

Salary and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience and education. Twelve-month contract; professional development support, vacation, and benefits including TIAA-CREF.
