LibQUAL Survey
Coming To WSU Libraries
In May 2006, the WSU Libraries completed a
three week survey of library user satisfaction using the Association
for Research Libraries LibQUAL+(TM) survey. This web-based
survey has been rigorously tested and used for over 6 years by
400 plus libraries world-wide. The results of the survey are
being analyzed and will
allow the WSU Libraries to better understand user perceptions
of library service quality and to plan for the future.
Early results show that 881 members of the University community
completed the survey and 319 additional comments were made.
Overall the Libraries received a satisfaction rating of 7.13 on a
nine point scale.

Kansas Gas Service Networked Seminar Complex Dedicated
The dedication
of the Libraries’ new Kansas Gas Service Networked Seminar Complex
in 224 and 225 of Ablah Library was celebrated on November 8th.
Dean Rao welcomed everyone to the event and gave the history of the
rooms' development. He then turned the podium over to
Donald Beggs, WSU president; Bradley Dixon, president of Kansas Gas
Service; Elizabeth King, vice president of WSU Advancement; and
Michael Schlotterbeck, president of the Student Government
Association, for remarks. After the dedication plaque was
unveiled, Beggs, Dixon, and Schlotterbeck joined John
Hutchinson, WSU vice president for Academic Affairs, for the ribbon
cutting.
The KGS Networked Seminar Complex
is the result of a $100,000 gift received from Kansas Gas Service, a
division of ONEOK. The purpose of the gift was to create a
technologically enhanced learning environment for the students and
faculty using Ablah Library. The result has been the total remodeling
of two group study rooms designed to meet the digital needs of both
students and faculty. These high-tech rooms are available to faculty
and student groups to develop presentations, telecommunication
conferences, and other group activities that require information
technology. The equipment includes tablet notebook computers with
Smartboard software, a wireless projector, receiver, DVD player, and
teleconferencing equipment. A scheduling calendar for the rooms can be
viewed at
http://libdb.wichita.edu/sch/index.php and reservation requests
may be submitted on a form found at
http://library.wichita.edu/circulation/res_form.htm. To be able
to reserve the equipment, individuals must be certified for competency
by the Libraries’ Systems Department. Training is provided at 9 a.m.
every Monday morning and upon special request as the need arises
