MEDLINE

MEDLINE: WSU users can search MEDLINE from 1966 to the present using either CSA or FirstSearch search software.  The CSA or FirstSearch versions of MEDLINE are searchable on or off-campus. The advantage of searching using these interfaces is their integration with the WSU Libraries Catalog so that you can tell what journals we own. However, there are many other interfaces through which to search the content of MEDLINE that you may also find useful as each interface differs in its features (use of MeSH, medical limiters, etc.).

For example, the National Library of Medline's PubMed interface to MEDLINE offers the complete MEDLINE database, from 1966 to the  present as well as incorporating additional content.  Note that this version does not have a link to the WSU Libraries Catalog.  Also note that if you find yourself confused by MEDLINE's journal title abbreviations, take a look at PubMed's Journal Database or the online version of the List of Serials Indexed for Online Users

In addition to the above services, the following search tools have been created to facilitate searching the MEDLINE database. Each provides a slightly different way to search and extract information from MEDLINE (many having been built on top of PubMed).

MedlinePlus
MedlinePlus brings together consumer-friendly health information from numerous trusted agencies. The site includes information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, and the latest health news.
