Database Description: The CINAHL database is the only compact
disc designed specifically to meet the information needs of nurses
and allied health professions. It is the database equivalent to the
Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature (CINAHL).
CINAHL provides access to virtually all English-language nursing
journals, publications from the American Nurses' Association and the
National League for Nursing, and primary journals from 13 allied
health disciplines.

in the United States for information from the biomedical literature,
containing references to articles from more than 3700 journals.
MEDLINE is the computerized counterpart of Index Medicus, the Index
to Dental Literature, and the International Nursing Index. MEDLINE
EXPRESS contains the complete MEDLINE database, including such
topics as microbiology, delivery of health care, nutrition,
pharmacology, and environmental health. The categories covered in
the database include anatomy, organisms, diseases, chemicals and
drugs, techniques and equipment, psychiatry and psychology,
biological sciences, physical sciences, social sciences and
education, technology, agriculture, food, industry, humanities,
information science and communications, and health care. Each
reference to an article or bibliographic citation in MEDLINE EXPRESS
is called a record. The full text of the articles is not provided,
but approximately half of the records contain abstracts written by
the article's author. The database is international in scope;
approximately 75% of the citations are published in English.

Database Description: PudMed was developed by
the national Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the
National Library of Medicine (NLM), located at the National
Institutes of Health (NIH). PubMed was designed to provide access to
citation from biomedical resources, i.e. Medline. PubMed also
provides access to additional life sciences journals as well as
links to many sites providing full-text articles and other related
sources. MEDLINE is the premier bibliographic database covering
fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, health
care system, and preclinical sciences, and contains citations and
abstracts from more than 4,600 biomedical journals published in the
United States and 70 other countries.

Database Description:
This database is designed to meet the needs of
researchers at health-care facilities as well as students enrolled
in nursing programs at academic institutions. This database offers
complete text and images from such journals as Nursing, Nursing
Management, Nursing Economics, Nursing Forum, RN, Journal of Nursing
Education, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Researcher and Nursing
Diagnosis. All of the source publications are available in the
ASCII full-text format. Nearly all of them also offer articles in
the full-image and Text+Graphics formats.
Dates of Coverage: For several publications
coverage from 1992 is available. For some, full-image articles go
back to 1988; Text+Graphics, to 1996.
