The Library receives copies of patents and trademarks issued by the U.S. Patent & Trademark

patents issued from 1790 to to the current week of issue.  Users may access the USPTO web site
or use the patent examiner systems Web-based Examiner Search Tool (WEST).

Patent websites:

Note: A complete, comprehensive patent search is difficult if not impossible to do using free, Internet accessible patent databases. The databases have limitations: coverage of only recent patents, partial text (or no text) of patents, no drawings, incomplete information, lack of sophisticated searching techniques, and dependence on keyword searching. A patent search on the Internet is a preliminary search only. For serious, comprehensive patent searching, use your local Patent and Trademark Depository Library.
