These 2 volumes contains literary criticism of dramatic literature from the late 19th and most of the 20th century.  Volume I covers dramatists from the United States, Britain, Ireland, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland while volume II covers dramatists from Norway, Sweden, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Russia, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland.  Entries are organized by country and then by playwright.

Critical Survey of Drama  REF PR623.C75 1994
In 7 volumes, this title covers English-language drama, containing 6 volumes on individual dramatists and a 7th volume of essays , including an annotated bibliography of drama history and criticism, and an index.  Articles include a critical assessment of the writer’s work, biographical information, a listing of their works and a bibliography.

In 6 volumes and a supplement, this title surveys drama of the world, containing 5 volumes on individual dramatists and a 6th volume of essays on literary history and literary trends, along with an index.  Articles include a critical assessment of the writer’s work, biographical information, a works list and a bibliography.

A bibliography and index to theatrical biographies in English, this is a good for locating information on thespians, particularly book-length biographies and autobiographies, and concluding with a necrology.

Stage Deaths  REF Z5781.S76 1991
In 2 volumes, this title covers essential biographical information for international artists of the stage including opera, dance, music, theater, film and television personalities.  Entries include the artist’s stage name, alias or billing name (where applicable), real name, names of parents, name of spouse(s), date and place of birth, date and place of death, type(s) of work done, source(s) of obituaries, and any book-length biographies in English.

This title contains brief biographical information along with career data for those involved in drama, music, and dance.

In this series, each volume is an assessment of the year in theater, with the latest located in the reference section.  Each annual volume contains an overview of the season, synopses and appraisals of highly acclaimed plays of the season, a directory of on, off and off off Broadway productions (with casting information), an overview and directory of plays around the United States, lists of facts and figures (long runs, awards, publications of plays, translations and adaptations, etc.) and an index.

American and British Theatrical Biography  REF PN2285.W42
This is an index to biographical information about theatrical personalities, covering the contents of over 170 sources.  Entries also contain birth and death dates, nationality, theatrical occupation and a code to the source(s) of biographical information.

This volume provides biographical information about actresses, producers, playwrights, directors, designers, critics, theatrical agents, managers, patrons, variety entertainers, dancers/choreographers, educators/scholars and administrators from all types of theatre (commercial, regional, experimental, educational and children’s theatres).

This series contains biographical entries of various lengths with personal information, awards, works lists/credits and bibliographies, covering performers, directors, writers, producers, designers, managers, choreographers, technicians, composers, executives, dancers and critics primarily throughout the US and Canada.  The more recent volumes provide international coverage.  Each volume (from 1984 to the present) contains a cumulative index for all current and prior volumes.

Who Was Who in the Theatre: 1912-1976  REF PN2597.W52
In 4 volumes, these entries of biographical information on actors, actresses, directors, playwrights, producers, and critics of the English-speaking theatre are culled from the 1912-1972 volumes of Who’s Who in the Theatre (incomplete set in Ablah Library, 2nd floor, PN2012.W3), including only the latest article on each individual.

Within the Dictionary of Literary Biography series, these volumes are devoted to dramatists and their work.  Each entry (excepting the volume devoted to William Shakespeare) begins with a listing of productions and publications, followed by a lengthy biography and overview of the dramatists’ creative output, and concludes with listings of other materials such as screenplays, and bibliographies.
