In 5 volumes and 3 parts, part one indexes characters in non-musical plays, part 2 indexes characters in operas and musical productions and part 3 indexes characters in ballets.  Find the name of the character to see which work they appear in, what year it was written, produced, copyrighted or published and a terse description of who the character is.  This covers ancient titles through the first half of the 20th century and a wide variety of languages.  Note that entries for parts 2 and 3 are coded, and the second half of each part contains a listing of the symbols and further information about the work in question.

In 5 volumes (4 parts and supplement), this is an index to reviews in major periodicals.  Part one covers American Drama from 1910-1982; part two, musical theatre from 1909-1989; part three, foreign drama from1909-1977; part four, screenplays from 1927-1973; and a supplement to part four cover screenplays from 1963-1980.  Each part is organized differently.

This is an index to biographical information about theatrical personalities, exploring the contents of over 170 sources.  Entries also contain birth and death dates, nationality, theatrical occupation, and a code to the source(s) of biographical information.

In 2 volumes, this work provides access to out-of-the-mainstream dramatic works or dramatic works or versions found in anthologies, series and periodicals.  This index is especially useful for finding works in foreign language sources and in collections for the 18th and 19th centuries.  Also covered here are radio and television scripts.  Volume 2 functions as a supplement, it may therefore be necessary to look in both volumes.

Play Index  REF Z5781.P53
This series indexes stage plays for both children and adults in collections, published singly and in collections.  Also indexed here are radio and television plays.  Plays are indexed by author, title and subject.  Each volume is arranged in 3 sections: the index, a listing of collections, and a cast analysis (a listing by size or type of cast), although not always in that order.  Currently covering plays from 1949-2002, find this located on index table 4.

This index to plays found in anthologies and periodicals from 1800-1926, provides access by author, title and subject.  When searching for a play by title, one must then look up the author to find the source of publication.  Volume 2 functions as a supplemental volume, so it may be necessary to check both volumes.

Index to One-Act Plays  REF Z5781.L83
This set is comprised of an initial volume and 5 supplements, indexing by title, author and subject, one-act plays published from 1900 through 1964.  Each entry contains a code for the source in which the play is located, title and author information, number and kind of characters, setting or background, and when applicable, an indication of suitability for elementary or high school students.

A bibliography and index to theatrical biographies in English, this is a good for locating information on thespians, particularly book-length biographies and autobiographies, and concluding with a necrology.
