index to names. This covers artists active since 1850.

art sales of the eighteenth century through the early twentieth century. Listed
by artist, this records the date of auction, the auctioneer, the owner, lot
number and title of work in question, purchaser and sale price.

The initial volume covers illustrators from 1744-1945, including the history and
development of illustrated books for children, brief biographies of living
illustrators of the time and helpful bibliographies. Three supplemental volumes

literature) from the Renaissance through the 20th century with

whose works are listed under main entries.
