Libraries To Celebrate Constitution Day- September 17

Wichita State University Libraries is honoring Constitution Day 2008 with a contest,  a recitation of the Preamble to the Constitution, and a display.

To test your knowledge of the Constitution, the University Libraries has compiled a short criss-cross puzzle. The puzzle is available in paper format on a table next to the display case and on the Web at www.library.wichita.edu/puzzle.htm.   Completed puzzles should be turned in to the Circulation Desk. Individuals who correctly solve the puzzle will be entered into a drawing for WSU-themed prizes donated by the WSU Bookstore and the Heskett Center. The drawing will be held shortly after 1:00p.m. by the Circulation Desk of Ablah Library on Constitution Day, Wednesday, September 17.

Preceding the drawing, precisely at 1:00p.m., a short broadcast will feature General Colin Powell leading a recitation of the Preamble to the Constitution.  The recitation is dedicated to our military serving all around the world.  All are invited to join in the recitation.

The Constitution Day display is in the display case on the main floor of Ablah Library. The exhibit highlights some of the information resources available in the University Libraries that provide a better understanding of the origins and structure of the U.S. Constitution and challenges it has faced.  A list of items in the display case may be found at:  http://library.wichita.edu/circulation/exhibit_books.htm
