Recall policies are used by libraries to help improve access to high demand material. Ablah Library's recall policy allows WSU students, faculty, and staff to place recalls on items that are already checked out. 1. When a recall is placed, the patron who has the item is informed by notice that the item has been recalled and that the item now has a new recall due date. Recalled items are generally due 7-12 days after the recall is placed. 2. To encourage the return of recalled items, the fines for late return of recalled items are higher than those for late return of other long-term loan items. 3. A one dollar per day fine is applied to any recalled item returned after the recall due date. This $1.00 per day fine continues until the item is returned, until the maximum recall fine of $40.00 per item is reached, or until lost charges for the recalled item are paid. Recall fines are added to any other fines or lost charges on the patron's record. There is no grace period on recalled items. 4. Most faculty, staff, and students receive recall notices by campus email. Community users receive recall notices by U.S. Mail. 5. To be sure that you receive recall notices in a timely manner, be sure to check your email account frequently. If you receive printed notices, keep your mailing address updated at the library. The library is not responsible for undelivered or lost recall notices.
