.Borrowing
Faculty Borrowing/Renewal Policy The Faculty Loan period is six months with a one renewal option. Faculty Loan materials are renewed twice a year, once in September and once in March. Faculty engaged in long term research and needing items beyond one year may request an extension form from the Circulation Department for up to two additional renewal periods. Materials on hold or recalled by another patron may not be renewed. About one month before items are due, a letter will be sent to you informing you that some or all of the materials you have checked out from the Library are due for renewal. For your convenience, a list of these items will be enclosed with the letter. Faculty members may renew the items by marking the list or by using the Online Catalog renewal option. Proxy borrowers are persons whom you have authorized to check out materials under your name. Typical proxy borrowers are graduate assistants or departmental secretaries. To arrange for proxy borrowers, please contact the Circulation Staff at 978-3582 or by email and request a proxy borrower form. Once the form is completed, your assistant will use this form to check out items in your name. Your assistant will not need to carry your faculty ID. These forms are updated each semester. Faculty members are responsible for all materials checked out in their names. Faculty members are assessed the same fines and fees as other members of the University. The complete fine and fees policy is found here. Borrowing Privileges at other libraries Wichita State faculty members have borrowing privileges at all Kansas Regents school. Additionally the University Libraries is a member of OCLC's Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program. This program facilitates scholarly research by extending a range of library privileges to faculty members at participating institutions. More than 259 institutions participate in this program including UC at Berkely, Carnegie Mellon, the University of Illinois, and MIT. For a complete list of participating libraries and to take advantage of this program, contact Ted Naylor, Interlibrary Loan Librarian.
