EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE FOR PATRON USE

Audiotape cassette player - Two audiotape cassette players are available at the Reserve Desk.  They may be checked out for in-library use.

Book trucks for patrons- a number of book trucks have have purchased for patron use.  These book trucks are black with yellow signs reading "For Patron Use"  and are usually located by the sorting areas on each floor.  Please feel free to use these at any time.  Patrons are requested not to use the beige book trucks as those are needed for the Libraries' shelving operations. 

Copiers -  The Library has copiers available on all levels and in the 24-hour study room. All will accept ShockerCards or copy cards. Many also have coin-ops.  The cost per copy is $0.07 if an encoded card is used and $0.10 if coins are used.   If a copier is out of toner, out of paper, or not functioning properly, you may report it to the Circulation Desk. Phones are located near the copiers on Level 2, Level 3, and the Lower Level for the purpose of reporting copier problems.

DVD Players - DVD players are installed on two PCs in the Reserve Area, on the laptops available for checkout, and on equipment in the Music Library.

Headphones - Headphones with 3/4"  and mini jacks are available for internal check-out at the Reserve Desk. These headphones will work with the Library's television, audio, and PC equipment. 

Headphone multiple user adaptors - Multiple user headphone adaptors are available at the Reserve Desk for patrons  who need to view materials together.

Laptops  Ablah Library has ten laptops with wireless Internet access available for check out and use in the library. Laptops may be checked out from the Circulation Desk located on the main level. Laptop check-out is restricted to WSU students, faculty, and staff. 

Microfiche readers and printers - Nine microfiche readers are available in the Reserve Area. Three of these readers are printer-enabled.  The cost per page is $0.10 for WSU students, faculty, and staff.  The cost for community users is $0.25. Patrons must check-in with the Reserve staff before printing.

Microfilm readers and printers -  Eight microfilm readers are available in the Reserve Area. Four of these readers are printer-enabled.  The cost per page is $0.10 for WSU students, faculty, and staff.  The cost for community users is $0.25. Patrons must check-in with the Reserve staff before printing.

Printers (laser) -  All public workstations in Ablah Library are connected to the Library's laser print network.  Laser printers and pay stations are located in the Reference Area, the Reserve Area, the 24-hour study room, and in the workstation clusters on the second, third and lower levels.  The cost per page is $0.07.  All printing must be purchased through an encoded Shockercard or vending card.  No coin-ops are available on the laser printers. 

Printers (color laser) - A color laser printer is available in the Reserve.  The cost per page is $1.00.  Due to the higher cost, students are cautioned to use this printer only for color prints.

Scanner - a scanner is available for patron use in the Reserve Area.  Priority will be given to WSU students needing to complete assignments.

Scissors, 3-Hole Punch, Stapler, Tape, and other small office equipment- are available at the table next to Circulation or at the Circulation Desk.

Television/VCRs - Seven television/VCR combinations are available in the Reserve area.  These televisions are connected to a full range of cable channels.  Priority use will be given to students needing to complete class assignments.  Patrons must use headphones when using this equipment.

Typewriter- An electric typewriter is located in the Reserve Area for patron use.

Workstations - Over 100 workstations are available for public use.  These workstations are able to access the Libraries' online public catalog (OPAC) and the general Internet.  Many of these workstations are equipped with CD-ROM drives, DVD drives, and audio cards. 

Workstations (enhanced)- The Library has 32 workstations that have been enhanced with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.  Enhanced workstations are located in the 24-hour study room, the Reserve Area, and in marked areas of the workstation clusters on each floor.
