Adobe Acrobat Troubleshooting |

|
The readings are in standard pdf (portable document format) and are readable with the Adobe Acrobat Reader. The latest version of Adobe Acrobat is 6.0 and is available for download, without charge, at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html The material should also be accessible in earlier Adobe versions, but we urge you to download the latest version of Acrobat. Some of the readings may print as "mirror images". Adobe 6.0 appears to have remedied this problem, but, if you do find mirror image readings, there is a "print as image" feature on the Adobe Acrobat print menu. When you click on the "print image" box, then click "print", the readings will print correctly. I. To open a reading in another window, please try the following: If your browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer: 1. Do not attempt to open the reading by left clicking on the highlighted link. 2. Right Click on "electronic copy" under the reading you wish to download. 3. Select "Save Target As" 4. Save the file in the directory of your choice. 5. Open the file in your Adobe Acrobat Reader. (Note: Some versions of Explorer will allow you to open the file directly from the download window.) If your browser is Netscape 6.2: 1. Right Click on "electronic copy " under the reading you wish to download. 2. You will be given the option to "Open in Acrobat" or "Save File to Disk". 3. First select "Open in Acrobat". Many times this will allow you to open the file. If this action doesn't solve the problem then right click on "electronic copy " again and select "Save File to Disk." This will give you the option to save the file in any directory you choose. 4. Go to the directory and open the file in the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Earlier Netscape browsers: 1. Do not attempt to open the reading. 2. Right Click on "electronic copy" under the reading you wish to download. 3. Select "Save Link As" . 4. Change "Save as type" to "All Files" 5. You may name the file anything you wish, and you may save to your computer or disk, but you must add the ".pdf" extension. 6. Go to the directory and open the file in the Adobe Acrobat Reader. II. If the right click options detailed above do not work you may need to modify your user preferences as detailed below. If you have Adobe Acrobat 5.0: 3. In the Adobe Reader select the "Edit" menu from the top line on the screen. 4. Select "Preferences". 5. Select "General" or "Options". 6. Under the "Web Options" or "Web Browser Options" make certain the box by "Display PDF in Browser" is NOT CHECKED. If you have Adobe Acrobat 4.0 :3. In the Adobe Reader select the "File" menu from the top line of the screen. 4. Select "Preferences" 5. Select "General". 6. Under "Options" make certain the box by "Web Browser Integration" is NOT CHECKED. After you have modified your computer settings, you will be given the option to open up the document or save the document to another directory. For immediate viewing, click on the "open file from its current location" option. For viewing later, click on the "save to disk" option and save the file to the directory of you choice. The file may then be opened through the Adobe Reader. (Note: If you are having trouble locating your Adobe Reader software, click on your "Start" button and look for "adobe" under the "Programs" option. |
