SELECTED DATABASES

 

q          ERIC—Education database provides indexing and abstracting of 1) articles published in over 1000 professional journals and 2) thousands of unpublished research reports (called "ERIC documents"). Links to the fulltext of most of these reports is available from 1993 to the present. The full microfiche collection prior to 1993 is available in the Reserve area.

 

q          General Science Abstracts--provides indexing and abstracting of 140 English-language journals and magazines written at various levels of sophistication from the very general to specialized research journals. The indexing is from May 1984, and the abstracts are written from 1993 to the present.

 

SELECTED REFERENCE SOURCES—Print refererence sources are located on the first floor of Ablah Library in the Reference stacks.  General Science sources are located in the Q’s, Astronomy is located in the QB’s, and Physics in the QC’s.  Some resources in the applied sciences are located in the T’s.

 

q          Oxford Reference Online--  provides access to 100 fulltext dictionaries, reference books, and an encyclopedia published by Oxford University Press in a single cross-searchable web database (electronic resource).

 

q          Laws and Models:Science, Engineering, and Technology—collection of laws and models arranged alphabetically.  Entries include statement of the law/model, date of origin, brief biographical information, sources, and cross-references Call no. Q40 .H35 2000 (1st Floor Reference).

 

 

q          McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology—20 vol. encyclopedia covering all aspects of science and applied science.  Call no. Q121 .M3 2002 (1st Floor Index Table 17).

 

 

q          Science and its Times: Understanding the Social Significance of Scientific Discovery—8 vol. encyclopedia that explains the impact invention and discovery have on society. Call no. Q175.46 .S35 2001 (1st Floor Reference).
