Currently off campus access is
not available due to a Citrix server problem. The Chemistry Library
computer lab has access to SciFinder Scholar as well as a few computers in the
reference area (SPub1-3). Sorry for the inconvenience.
SciFinder Scholar Access at WSU Libraries
SciFinder Scholar is for use only by Wichita State University students and faculty. General public use is not allowed.
*The use of SciFinder Scholar is restricted to
WSU faculty, staff, and students from off-campus workstations*
If you already have Citrix Client Installed on your machine, then click here
to access
Sci-Finder Scholar.
There are four ways to connect to the SciFinder Scholar database:

Access from Ablah
Library and Chemistry Library.

for on Campus Users.

Access
for Off-Campus users with Shocknet2 dial-up service.

Access for Off-Campus users with other Internet Access Service.
Access from Ablah
Library and Chemistry Library
Library access is provided on all public workstations in the Chemistry
Library and on the first three South workstations in the Reference area of Ablah
Library. At those workstations, click on the SciFinder Scholar icon.
Access
for on Campus Users
Outside of the library, WSU faculty, staff, and students may access
SciFinder Scholar from other campus workstations. Follow the
instructions below for downloading SciFinder Scholar search software in
Windows or
Macintosh to your workstation.
There are also instructions for installing WebLab ViewerLite
software that can be used with SciFinder Scholar to view 3D structure models.
Access to SciFinder Scholar is currently restricted to one user at a time.
Access
for off-Campus User with other Internet Access Service
Outside of the library, WSU faculty, staff, and students may access
SciFinder Scholar from Off-Campus Workstations by following the
instructions below for downloading Citrix Server Client software to your
workstation.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING THE CITRIX SERVER
WINDOWS CLIENT
You must download the Citrix ICA Client for remote access
to this database on the
Library's Network Launcher. To install the Citrix Windows Client, please follow
the following instructions:
- Click here to begin the process of
installing the Citrix
Windows Client. This download process may take several minutes.
- You will be asked to choose to open or save the file.
Choosing the SAVE option will allow you to place the file on
your computer's hard drive.
- After the file is downloaded, you will need to locate the file
named ica32t.exe
and open it. When the file is opened, auto-extract is
automatically executed when the process is complete, you will then
be asked if you want to install Citrix ICA Web Client. You must
answer "yes" to this question, and "yes" to the License Agreement. This
will allow the installation to proceed.
- Once the installation process is
finished, remote users may need to restart their computer, after
which you should return to this page and click here to connect: Access
to Databases on the Network Launcher
- Remote users will be asked to enter a Shocker ID and PIN to
proceed.
- Once connected, you will see a series
of icons for databases available on the Network Launcher. Click on
the icon for the database you want to access.

Windows (Instructions for Downloading SciFinder Search
Software)
1. Download sfs2004.exe and save it into a temporary folder. (This is an ~21
MB self-extracting executable.)
• Click here
to download the file:
SFS2006.exe
2. Execute "SFS2006.exe" to install the SciFinder Scholar 2006
software. You can do this by:
• Double-clicking
it in Windows Explorer (or My Computer), or
• Choosing
Run from the Start menu, typing in the full path to the file, and clicking
OK.
3. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
4. Once you have installed the program, you now have to download another file
called site.prf.
• First,
hold the SHIFT key down on your keyboard and click on: site.prf
• A SAVE AS
window will pop-up on your screen.
• Save this
file under C:\sfschlr\site.prf
5. You should now be able to use SciFinder Scholar.

self-extracting executable.)

2, Use a decompression program such as Stuffit Expander to expand it.
3. Double-click on the "SciFinder Installer" icon.
4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
5. Once you have installed the program, you now have to download another file
called site.prf.
• First,
hold the SHIFT key down on your keyboard and click on: site.prf
• Download
and save this file into the same folder.
6. You should now be able to use SciFinder Scholar.

Windows users may install Molecular Simulations Inc. WebLab
ViewerLite 5.0 software along with SciFinder Scholar 2004-2 to view 3D structure
models. WebLab ViewerLite is a high-end molecular visualization application for
visualizing models of molecules. Models can be rotated, scaled, edited, labeled,
and analyzed to provide better understanding of 3D structure.
Installation Instructions:
1. Close all other Windows applications and anti-virus software. Installation
may not proceed properly if other programs are running.
2. Download WebLab ViewerLite into a temporary folder by clicking on
WLViewerLite50.exe
.
3. Double-click on the WLViewerLite50.exe icon. A WinZip Self-Extractor window
appears. Click Setup to begin the installation. Follow the prompts to install WebLab ViewerLite on your computer.
NOTE: During WebLab ViewerLite Setup, choose the default location of C:\Program
Files\WLViewerLite50. If you choose another location, SciFinder Scholar will not
be able to locate the ViewerLite application. Even if you have previously
installed ViewerLit on your PC, install a second copy in C:\ProgramFiles\WLViewerLite50.
